calamity jane WOW! It "blows my mind" at how so many people are ticked off at John's decision. Sure, I was not (AT ALL) expecting Julio to win, but I am sure John knew what he was doing and maybe saw something in him that we didn't. We are not the songwriter's or performer's, but we are entitled to our opinions. I did not miss a single episode and loved all of them. I think every person on the show learned something new about themselves and how to appreciate things most of them took for granted. I am proud of John and I think he did a wonderful job:)! I hope and pray they have another season of Gone Country.

Keep It LOUD!!!!

AMEN TO THAT!! Please John,

COUNTRY MUZIK WITHOUT PREJUDICE!!!

Submitted by Lucky7065 on March 10, 2008 - 2:42pm.

COUNTRY MUZIK WITHOUT PREJUDICE. You all need to remember that this is after all just a REALITY SHOW. It is purely for entertainment. Apparently you all liked it enough to watch the entire season, but just because your favorite didn't get picked you need to mouth off on their website. Grow up. They all had a great experience on the show and most of them I'm sure will be seen again around Nashville. If you people aren't fans, and you're just here to rip John a new one, then YOU can piss off.

Pardon my language.

AFTER VIEWING THE RERUNS ..THINGS CHANGED

Submitted by PrettyPeggy1 on March 13, 2008 - 1:14pm.

AFTER VIEWING THE RERUNS...MYSELF & MOST OF MY FRIENDS AGREE IT WAS PROBABLY A GOOD IDEA BOBBY BROWN WASN'T PICKED. HE WAS A LOOSE CANON,DRANK TOO MUCH & UNRELIABLE. WE CAN SEE WHY JR WOULDN'T WANT TO SINK HIS OWN $$ INTO PRODUCING HIM UNTIL HE GOT TO KNOW HIM BETTER.
MAUREEN WAS SWEET BUT THERE AGAIN ,WE DON'T MEAN TO BE UNKIND BUT SHE DIDN'T COME OFF AS THE MOST "STABLE" PERSON.SHE MIGHT BE A RISK TOO, DITTO FOR DEE SNIDER.
OTHER THAN THAT..THE OTHERS WERE PRETY COOL & ACTUALLY WE ALL HOPE THEY " GO COUNTRY"...WE'D BE THRILLED.

Country Muzik Without Prejudice

Submitted by gwaszo on March 11, 2008 - 2:49am.

Finally people care coming to their senses. This is a reality show. Would anyone be watching if we all new the outcome from the first show? John said we would be surprised! And like someone else said, this is the Big & Rich website, why is everyone beating up John? He was a great host and I'd love to see another installment. As for everyone on the show, this will jumpstart probably all their careers. We already know Diane moved to Nashville, I heard on my local country station that Carnie is doing a country CD, John helped Dee with the Station House benefit, etc. Obviously, John saw something in Julio besides screaming girls.

Country Music Without Prejudice

Submitted by johnrichfan1992 on March 11, 2008 - 10:49am.

People yeah are starting to come around to common sense. Bobby Brown I think also moved to Nashville. People are coming and talking about John, not in good ways either.

John Rich Country Music without prejudice!!

Submitted by johnrichfan1992 on March 10, 2008 - 4:15pm.

Lucky7065 that's what i'm talking about! I agree with you. People are getting pissed at John like he killed someone or something horrible. It's a TV show people! Country Music without prejudice!! He's a freakin Muzik Mafia Godfather! He told you all from the beggining you were going to be surprised. He also posted a blog about his decisoin because all you people that didn't agree with him was bi*** at him. Which was horrible. John loves country music, and would die for it, and kill for it. He is dedicated to everything he does, and gives to charity and childrens hospitals like crazy. Bobby Brown also told you at the end, if you decided to actually pay attention, that Nashville would not be seeing the last of him. You guys think that Dee, Diana, Bobby, Carnie, and Morene are never going to sing again or something. This is a Big & Rich webiste, don't come here and trash John. If you guys just came here to complain to him and what not, then SCREW you.

I could say alot of things to add, however I found the music of Big and Rich, when I needed it! I know that sounds so silly, but its true.

I put alot of faith in John as a performer,a fund raiser for children, he is also known his love and passion, is Coutry Music. He loves his fans, he is a very sweet loving person. In no way is John fake, as so many are today.

So I would like to make a comment to johnrichfan1992.

Hell yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you dont like SCREW YOU, but if you can not say anything nice then dont speak, text, write, or send smoke signs. No one cares for your for thougts on the issue. Also to the johnrichfan1992, it is wonderful you stand up for John!!!!!

I read so many mean things said, If you concider yourself his fan, then you should forgive and forget. If you think Julio is going to suck then dont bother listen, but as for athe true and loyal fan (johnrichfan1992)thank you for standing up for John,It means alot to me as well. This is nnot Rock and Roll, where you tear other Artist down. This iis pure Country, we stand behind our men and women artist. GGreat Job, Jenny

I'll stand up and love John

Submitted by johnrichfan1992 on March 12, 2008 - 4:24pm.

I'll stand up and love John Rich untill the day I die. I have all the faith in the world with John. People have been trash talking me for sticking up for John and supporting him with all the stuff that's going on. I could care less, I really could. Nothing any of them say is going to chance how much I love John and how big of a fan I am of his. I really appriciate you snowbear1618 for leaving that great comment. It made me feel really good. I'm glad you yourself are also a true fan.

Big & Rich are there own style. They don't want you to go to there shows and just leave saying "Oh yeah that was good." No, they want you to say "What the hell just happened? That was crazy!" They want to entertain listeners of all genres of music. They are going to do what they want to do. As John said himself, "You can't do that, or you can't say that, or for god sake don't put that on the record. Why not because you didn't?" Muzik Mafia is a group of artists who belive in not just Country music alone, but music as a whole without prejudice.

I'm glad that it means alot to you snowbear that I stick up for John. The people that are mad at John and are ragging on him, may not belive John when he says that he would kill for country music and would die for it. But the truth is that John is dedicated with all his heart to everything, and anything he does, and puts every ounce of dedication into his work and songs. Either the one's that he writes for him and Kenny, or other artists. That just goes to show how dedicated and caring he really is.

Submitted by shaunakpu on March 10, 2008 - 2:10pm.

I understand that Julio has the squealing girl factor, but he is not even remotely country. I didn't like his song - and he's rather greasy in my opinion.
John, you are a genius in every sense of the word - right down to your choice of boots and fur... but Julio?
BRING BACK MO!

Julio??

Submitted by privateer420 on March 10, 2008 - 11:12am.

LOVED the show! Great idea! You had me from the very beginning and all the way to "The winner is..." Then, you lost me completely. The girls would have screamed for Julio if he stood up there and read kindergarten knock-knock jokes.
I do not see how he was country. In my humble opinion, Carnie, Mo and Bobby were amazing! My respect for Bobby Brown has grown immensely. Dee had a very wonderful song! Great Country/Rock - similar to a Big & Rich type song! I'd have purchased any of their singles!
Julio? Well, he was just Julio. I will not be rushing out buy his single.
Talked with my mother this weekend - she agrees, too.

Why in the world did you choose Julio...I mean he did have a great performance but I wouldn't consider him Country..but I would like to see what you and him produce. Can't wait for the new cd.

By the way, John you have not lost a fan, because I am still a big fan of Big & Rich! Everyone just needs to chill....and remember its a reality show and everyone on there had a good time.

ONE OF THE GREATEST MUSIC MOMENTS IVE EVER SEEN!!!

Submitted by quincina1967 on March 9, 2008 - 7:33pm.

Bobby Please read why John Rich was Right!!!

Their comes a moment in music that takes not only your breathe away but also your heart. There has been and gonna be great singers threw out our lives that we will just love to death. We will buy their CD's and attend their concerts. We will root for them to win that Grammy or Oscar. But every now and then there will be a performer that does something so special it will forever be embedded in our soul and memory. It would cross and touch every single genre fans. Its the type of moment that we never be duplicated EVER!! So Bobby Brown I just want him to know and believe that what he did on that stage was bigger then life. From the moment he song the first word the majority of all that witnessed that performance didnt forget your past, but instead we embraced your past. You took us to a place that honestly almost didnt allow us to hear the other 6 contestant. You just didnt write a song to win but you instead wrote an ANTHEM for every single person that somewhere alone their lives took the wrong way and didnt know where or how to get back on the right road. You allowed that mother who didnt understand their child who was somewhere strung out. You allowed that wife whos husband wrecked his family nearly to the point of no return, thinking he didnt care because he wouldnt change. That tear that rolled down your face was for all of us that didnt know how to tell those we pushed away that loved us thinking we were hopeless.Your story represented our story. And judging from the message boards here at least 95% also agree with what Im saying. You said you might not be able to deal it you didnt win because all you needed was a chance that would allow you to get back. The way I understood it was like you was telling everyone, ALL YOU NEEDED WAS FOR SOMEONE TO PUT JUST A TINY CRACK IN THE DOOR AND YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO BUST IT CLEAN DOWN!!
And personally I say to you that JOHN RICH WAS RIGHT NOT TO CHOOSE YOU TO WIN GONE COUNTRY BECAUSE IN ALL REALITY YOU DIDNT WIN THAT TITLE.THE TITLE YOU WON WAS

GGGGGONE AMERICANNNNNNNNNNN!
So please understand what you did on last night was certainly one of the greatest music moment anyone has ever witnessed and that surpasses the title of GONE COUNTRY!!!
**********************
P.S.S

At the same time most fans would also agree that all of them did a beautiful job. Also I truly do believe if JR would produce a CD of all the songs that it would either be a #1 seller or close to #1 without a doubt. Plus also would like to add that Julio song was truly awesome but the problem the fans are having is that no matter how great his song was it wasnt country whatsoever. Fans are not trying to put JULIO down because we all understand its not his fault with the outcome. The fans of all genre of music that watched the series didnt base their choice on how many girls was screaming for him, but instead they based their choice and opinion on the performer that touched their emotions and the song that they would buy.I agree that Julio song would be a hit but in his genre or even pop. But Bobby(ESSPECIALLY),Sisqo,Mo and Diana song would be a hit in all genre of music fans.Best example I could give would be Fantasia Barrino, most would admit she didnt have a greater voice than Diana,Jennifer Hudson or Latoya London. And up until the last song she song the winner was a 50/50 chance on either to win. But the second she song the first word til the last on her song " I BELIEVE" the way she sung it wasnt about her singing it good just to win. She laid down her life of harship in the moment so deep Diana didnt have a chance in Hell. The exact way Bobby did and we all know had it been a vote from the viewers guess what, Bobby song and performance knocked the over clean the hell out. And the others didnt have a chance in Hell the very second Bobby fit that floor on his knees, and what clinched it for him is when that tear rolled down his face when he song that last verse. But again thats my opinion.

DIE FOR COUNTRY MUSIC - Julio is NOT COUNTRY!!! I loved the show right up until the last one when I found out YOU ARE A FRAUD AND A PHONY!!!! You will never, ever see one more penny of mine. I DON'T THINK THERE IS A COUNTRY SONG THAT PLAYS ON KASE101 HERE IN AUSTIN THAT I CAN'T SING WORD FOR WORD. I KNOW COUNTRY I AM COUNTRY OR LIKE WE SAY DOWN HERE, "DIRT ROAD". JULIO IS NOT COUNTRY! HE DID NOT HAVE THE SOUND VOCALLY AND HIS MUSIC HAD A LATINO SWING RYTHYM AND SOUND. HIS ATTIRE WAS NOT COUNTRY AND I JUST DON'T BUY HIM. NEITHER DOES THE REST OF US COUNTRY FOLK DOWN HERE IN TEXAS! I BELIEVE EVERYONE DID BETTER THAN JULIO. IT TOOK HEART TO RIGHT THE LYRICS THAT BOBBY BROWN DID, DIANA AND MAUREEN. JULIO? NO, NO, NO, NO!!! I DON'T KNOW IF THERE WILL BE A SEASON 2, BUT IF THERE IS I WILL WATCH BECAUSE I LOVE YOU (AND BIG)BUT AS FAR AS YOU SPENDING HARD EARNED MONEY TO PUT OUT A COUNTRY MUSIC ALBUM OR EVEN ONE TRACK FOR JULIO, IS FOOLISH! PERHAPS NEXT TIME YOU CAN CONSULT WITH COWBOY TROY, GRETCHEN AND SOME OF THE OTHERS ON THE FINAL DECISION. COUNTRY MUSIC FANS UNITE ON THIS ONE AND ANNOUNCING HIM AS THE WINNER, KILLED COUNTRY MUSIC FOR AN INSTANCE. HOW SAD!

Well, where to start?I am a huge country music fan, and I've liked Big & Rich for a long time. I watched Gone Country all season. I thought the idea was great. But what the hell were you thinking???????JR, honestly, why would you pick someone that made the entire show a mockery??? You would kill for country music????Well Julio is NOT country, not even close!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This has made me second guess you as a producer and artist. I have pretty much lost respect for you. Bobby Brown should have won, his song was from the heart and ment to something. Julio didn't even care, so what he made some girls scream. He is FAR from "Gone Country" This was a damn joke, John!!! How could you go against what you preached about song writing and not pick Maureen or Bobby????? Their songs were awsome!!!

You have truly lost a fan, and by the looks, many fans!!!!
Hope this back fires in your face cause I won't buy his crap!!!!

John-You are 2 faced & really messed up. Bobby Brown's performance & song was fantastic.Who cares if Sisqo danced? Billy Ray Cyrus danced,Bill Monroe & Earl Scruggs clogged.Country fans embraced Sisqo's dancing too. Dee Snider rocked the house and you acted like he was the first person who ever flipped the bird.(HELLO? George Jones? Hank Williams Jr?)Carnie Wilson's lyric's & delivery were PURE country. SHE was a DOLL.Diana wasn't twangy enough for you? Neither is Faith Hill r Shania Twain. SO what?
Julio didn't even TRY to get into the competition? He didn't wear rhinestones lik etherest of them did.Come on? You messed up.
Redeem yourself & don't let Bobby Brown & Sisqo go somewhere else. WE want them ALL.

Joining in the loud chorus

Submitted by Rnay on March 9, 2008 - 2:39pm.

Joining in the loud chorus of viewers who were upset and disappointed with the winner chosen. The loud rumbling sounds we all heard when Julio’s name was called was the collective result of Roy Acuff, Ernest Tubb, Hank Williams, Tammy Wynette, and a host of others spinning in their crypts. I am not so upset because he is Latino, or bubblegummy pop, androgynist cute, etc. The boy just has no real vocal TALENT. The instrument is inferior. People using the argument Julio isn’t country enough? Some people said the same things about Jim Reeves and Patsy Cline. But they had the voices that made country music believe, and they sang from the heart. Julio’s lyrics were shallow and trite. The closest equivalent I could make would be when Pat Boone tried to sing heavy metal. I could picture people like Elton John, Paul McCartney, Michael Jackson, Eminem, Prince, Britney Spears or Fergie being more COUNTRY than Julio Jr. JR, let me apply the “ACID TEST” from David Allan Coe’s hit, The Ride, like a checklist.

Mr. Iglasias, can you make folks cry when you play and sing (like Maureen did)? (No) Have you paid your dues (like Bobby Brown has)? (No) Can you moan the blues (like Bobby again)? (Nope) Can you bend them guitar strings (like Dee?) (Nu-uh), Can you make folks feel what you feel inside (like Carney, Sisco and Diana)? (No, but I CAN make teen girls giggle, blush and sigh).

Ding ding ding, this is not your winner then.

PS If you are looking to include an under-represented group of fans and performers in the world of C/W music, what about black Americans? Only reason Charlie Pride made it in the beginning is he didn't "sound" black. Tex-Mex, Tejano and Cajun influences are found in C/W music but the last performer to include a soul influence, in my opinion, was ELVIS! C'mon, JR, you messed this one up.

How could this be??????

Submitted by upsetfan on March 9, 2008 - 1:54pm.

I have never posted a comment about anything but this "Gone Country" winner made me CRAZY! What were you thinking JR? I've been reading blogs on this site & CMT's and I can't seem to find one supporter of your decision for "Julio". You have upset a lot of people and I know it's just a show but I supported it the whole season and was let down hard. Anyone but Julio would have been fine for me because everyone did great except for him! My personal favorite was "Bobby Brown". His song was from the heart and everyone I know loved it! If you have a second season with this show, which I doubt it, you need to let the TRUE COUNTRY FANS vote! Because the country fans didn't want Julio and our radio stations are getting flooded with calls saying they do not want to hear this on the radio. However it would be nice to have them all on a CD, because I can't stop singing Mr. Brown's song..I LOVED IT!

Total shock over a bad decision

Submitted by jessica93 on March 9, 2008 - 1:40pm.

It is rare that I comment online about shows that I have watched, but this one really got to me. I love to sing, especially country music, and it is my favorite to listen to. This is a copy of what i wrote on the Gone Country message boards. There might be more of a chance that JR reads it here than on CMT. It's time to listen to the fans, as every entertainer thanks their fans every chance they get. Realize now that we have voices as well as wallets.

I have been a country music fan long enough to know that country music is not about the girls screaming for the singer onstage. I was in complete and total shock when Iglesias won. His song sounded like a bad rip-off from his brother! He was the last person of that group that I would have bet on to win.
John Rich what were you thinking? I had respect for what you have done in music and what you have done for other serious musicians who care about what they are doing; people like Gretchen Wilson for instance. You took the Gone Country crew to her farm to learn where the roots of country music come from. Iglesias was the least interested in it! He has the least respect for this genre and you should know it from first hand experience with him. He made a mockery of most of the challenges. He is not a good singer, the song was NOT good at all- especially not for country- and the girls that were screaming over him during the finale would NOT pay to see him in concert. They weren't necessarily screaming for him either- they were screaming over the name Iglesias.
My own father, who is not a country music fan but someone who became interested to see what would happen with some of these people, especially Diana DeGarmo, as she is an amazing singer. He got hooked on the show and was in probably more shock than me over the winner. I am proud of Iglesias for overcoming his language barrier, and for writing a song completely out of his element. But he should NOT have been declared the winner.
After watching the performances the other night, I thought that, by their performances, the front runners were Maureen, Diana, and Bobby. Probably in that order. Maureen wrote a definitely country song, though it has more of a classic-country sound, like Loretta Lynn. Diana was the amazing singer, and I think her song could have been played among the likes of Faith Hill, Martina McBride and Sara Evans. Bobby is not a singer anymore, but he wrote a good song. Iglesias was at the bottom of my list. His song was about as enjoyable as Sisqo's, and I had them both at the bottom- Sisqo killed his performance with his dance that did NOT belong in a slow song.
I hope John Rich sees what a mistake he made when the album he creates fails to sell. I do not know anyone who would buy something from anyone with a lack of respect for what they are doing.
What a joke.
Sincerely, Jessica, So-Cal

PS - If u wanna talk about chessey lyrics(as u ripped into Dee for?)go listen to the crap u have churned out.

Gone Crazy

We were very disappointed with the outcome. Julio seemed like he was imitating his father--he is not an orginal. He does not respect country music. We have seen better at a local bar.

The best song was Mo's. I also like Carnie's. Even Bobbie would have been a nice selecton.

Gone Country? More Like "Gone Crazy"!

Submitted by maxnc on March 9, 2008 - 11:23am.

I won't rehash everything I posted over at CMT, I just hope JR reads the "Gone Country" message board at CMT and realized just how much he has let down country music fans. And remember, JR...for every fan that posted, there is probably a 1,000 fans who feel the same way that didn't bother to comment.

Just look at the poll on this page and you'll seen how country the fans think Julio is. You have really slapped country music fans in the face with this ludicrous decision. Come to think of, Ludacris would have been a better choice!

Juli-NO!!!

My husband and I have been DVRing your show and its been awesome watching it. We totally identify with everything you've been saying about country and agree with all the activities you planned to show the artists what we're all about. And tonight we finally got to see the ending. The ONE person we were SURE would not win was Julio. We were soooo disappointed and CONFUSED!! Did we miss something?!! ANY OTHER CONTESTANT we could have agreed with. They ALL made the effort in a huge way EXCEPT Julio!! We kept trying to logically find an explanation for why you picked him because you seem so smart and you seem to really understand country fans - and then you went and picked JULIO?!!! He wasn't remotely country. He wasn't AT ALL passionate about country and didn't even make an effort or feign an INTEREST!! I wish you would post a blog of what you were thinking because I don't see it AT ALL!!! I've grown up with country music MY WHOLE LIFE and I'm a HUGE FAN...but tonight I lost so much respect for you and your music!!! I feel very USED!!

John...John..John..
What a terrible decision you made in picking Julio winner of your Gone Country Show. His song didn't sound country at all. You based your decision on the reactions of the girls in the audience. bad, bad, bad. Your winner should have been Carnie or Diana and you know it. If you make another Gone Country Show I know who won't be watching it....ME!

BIG & MISSED!!!

JR, JR, JR...
You missed this one "big time". Carnie or Dee should have gotten the break. I know Dee went a little off the deep end at the end of the tune but come on...Julio. Cat can sing and definitely has charisma but he really doesn't have a snowball's chance of being country. Dee has an outlaw side that used to be respected in country music. No offense but you really can't dog him for flying the bird in a honky tonk and I'm sure he wasn't the only person in the building to drop the f-bomb. Big & Rich's music has it's risque' side too. I think you guys are awesome but facts are facts, you throw the double entendres pretty well yourselves.

Anyway I definitely ain't mad atcha. It's your name on the track when it's all said and done.

OMG, we go home from a weekend of seeing bon jovi in mohegan sun, cant wait to get back to the recorded gone country that we tivo'd. we love, love, love this show and religiously watched it every week. john, you said country music is from the heart and soul, you put down daniela degarmos song saying it was pop and you give the ring to a guy whos song sounded latin. what is going on. i listen to country music, via satellite every day and every minute i can, just saw toby keith in concert, kenny chesney in april, maybe i should see julio iglasias, i think he is going to be in mohegan too. so i guess that you classify latin music, country. is it the new lacountry. i would have been happier by you picking bobby brown, why cant soul be the new country. you guys have great music, so come to my city and i will show you the correct way to pick out a country star. i guess julio iglesias jr. is going to be hear on xm radio on the new country station. LALALALAcountry. thanks for ruining your show.

LOL renee p.s thanks for letting me get my frustrations out.!!!

John's choice

Submitted by johnrichfan1992 on March 8, 2008 - 10:43am.

I just watched the season finale because i had something to do last night, and my mouth dropped. I really didn't think John would have picked Julio. But I trust John 110% and I am supporting him on his choice. I mean yes, I think Morene should have won, but John made his choice and I support him. Anyone who says they are true big John Rich fans, and then comes on here and trashes him for his choice on who won, you guys aren't real true fans. Don't say he's not "country" anyone either. You're wrong. John knows what he's doing and his choice does not affect how much I LOVE JOHN RICH!

I'm a Big & Rich fan, and I dig the honesty of these guys. No disrespect meant to Julio AT ALL, but I have to say I was shocked at John's decision based on what the show televised. It felt contrived and "political." Most contestants really went the distance. I have to say: MO - so proud of you! John, you leave me questioning. Really liked the series though.

OH MY GOSH! NO WAY!!! This was the reaction my family had to last nights winner announcement. I can't believe you picked Julio. I think Diana or Bobby would have been the best choice. I loved watching this show but after this disappointment I don't know that I will watch it again if there is another one.

Best song.....

The only thing I can say is that Bobby Brown's song The Man I'm Gonna Be, was the best written and most country like.
Yea, Bobby has some issues to deal with (drinking, urinations, etc....) but I still think his song was the best written and more "country-fied" than anyone elses.
Julio did nothing on the show that even related to country. He did not work or get his hand dirty, as "country folk" do. He slept (more than Bobby) while other housemates worked in the house (cooking).
Yea, Diana has a great voice and she did tweek her performance, but she's also 20 years old, with fairly new celebrity status, and should be able to make it on her own.

I'm not the expert here, John Rich is. I like John's attitude and work ethics. Maybe he sees something in Julio that the rest of us don't.

Hope there is a season 2. Maybe it can be fan voted on for a winner.....

John: While I don't agree with your choice for the winner of last night's GONE COUNTRY competition (I would have much rather seen Diana win), I am so glad that you didn't choose Dee. What a disrespectful performance. I know that he's a rocker and that rockers are different, but for him to flip the "bird" and to smash his guitar -- how sad, how rude! Wouldn't it have been much better if he'd handed his guitar to someone in the audience?

"Gone Degarmo"

I have to be honest, I don't watch CMT. I like country music but I'm not hard core about it at all. Gone Country got me. Untill tonight! I was shocked at how invested I got in all of the singer's and even started to develop a respect for John Rich. Now, not so much. What was that decition based on? I thought John said he would smack the hell out of anyone who was there for a piggy back ride. The fact that Diana took his uncalled for outraged advice and twiked her already great song, after the verbal beating she took, shows her integrity, talent, her persiverance, spirit and dedication to country music and why she was there. Everyone could see that she wasn't looking for a free ride. Diana, I hope you see this and I know it's not much of a comfort now but, Your song was so fantastic, Real, relatable and sung briliantly. You've gained a fan in me and many others. JR was dead wrong and I pray that you release RBWWE and prove that. Your voice is addicting. I found a true respect for Diana Degarmo and lost any I had found in John Rich and his show. All the best for you Diana. We look forward to everything you do, You are a genuine talent and so much fun to watch.

Bad Decision

I was a big fan of yours. What happened to your country background? I thought you chose the latin guy for politics rather than a good business decision. I hate to say it, but the girl ( Diana Digarmo ) had the best voice.

John I hope you read this. I am disgusted with the choice you made as the winner of your show, Gone Country. What a joke! You set that up the entire time, from the minute you first time you sat down to dinner with the artists, you said to Julio, something like, "we need someone like you to bridge the gap in country music". If you were even going for something the public and fans would buy, it would've been Diana DeGarmo, hands down. I was feeling her song and thought, "yes I would buy this cd without a doubt". Then you go and pick one of the worst artists you had on the show. He will be lucky if he sells 100 albums. You may have some talent yourself, and I mean "some" in singing yourself, but you have NO talent in picking a singer for the country music genre. The whole show was a joke. I will NOT be watching if there is a 2nd season of this crap. In fact, I am happy to say I don't own a single Big and Rich album. When I saw you guys in 2004 in Orlando, FL when you opened for Tim McGraw, I was bored out of my damn mind. You are NOT a genuwine country artist yourself, so how in the hell can you pick one?

I must say that I can't think of a worse person for you to pick as the winner of Gone Country than that air head Julio. He did nothing during the show but try to spray people with the hose and embarass himself.....And can I add......his song freekin sucked.....I can't believe John Rich would associate his good song writing name with a piece of crap like him.

BTW - You JR, are no Hank Williams and no expert at what country fans want. Diana Degarmo was the only one with any vocal talent at all...she's not the best singer I've ever heard, but she far exceeded the country talent of the other circus clowns you had on this show.

i think you picked the wrong person to win gone country. he is not country. Diana should have won. Diana is more country than he is.

Of all the genres of music, Country has always been about the lyrics, the story of her people. Stories that touch the heart of America and her hard working fans. So while I was skeptical, I was also intrigued by a venue such as John Rich’s “Gone Country” that provide a sounding board for such diverse singers as Maureen McCormick and Sisgo. Bravo for the intent and for taking a roaming urinator, like Bobby Brown, and allow him to show us the lyrical Genius that he truly is. It’s “chances” like this that gave a glimmer of hope to my size 14 daughter, who wants nothing more in life then to sing on the Grand Ole Opry herself, that perhaps she to could find a place in County Music. Excellent concept, excellent diversity, typical “Hollywood” ending. Imagine my families surprise when the least talented of the bunch, Julio Iglesias, Jr., was crowned John’s winner. Why, because he made some little girls scream, way to cash in on the “Hanna Montana” age group and the vast growing Mexican population in our Country. Julio’s victory had little to do with talent, and more to do with an “image”. An image that John’s bankers are betting on to provide a quicker return on their money. Either way, good luck on season 2, I won’t be watching. Oh, but I heard one of those guys from Milli Vanilli is still available, he already knows the routine.

Gone Country Winner :(

Submitted by cmccutcheon on March 7, 2008 - 5:22pm.

I am born and bred in Tennessee and absolutely love country music. I have watched every episode of Gone Country and loved it. I've learned things about these artists that I never knew before. Seen a whole new side of them that I never knew existed. My pick for winner was Bobby Brown. I can't remember any of the songs that were sung but his. His song was deep and touching. Carnie, Diana, Maureen and Sisque were equally good. Dee and Julio (I love them, but come on) I didn't think had a chance. Julio just got the yells and hollers cause he's a good looking Latin guy. But he didn't even sing his whole song in English. Granted, he has a great voice and can totally pull off the Latin Lover thing, but a country music star??? How disappointing.

John - I love you guys music. It is awesome. you guys are awesome. I admire your music and you. But I can't see paying to hear anything Julio puts out that's suppose to be country. Playing the Latin Lover is one thing, but trying to turn him into a country star is an entirely different matter.
